As newer phone models contained improvements in its design, display, and functions, along with the greater availability of the internet, the mobile phone became what we know today as the smartphone. The smartphones we use today play a huge role in our everyday lives. As mentioned earlier, we use it for nearly everything.
Phonescoop.com defines a smartphone as “(a) category of mobile device that provides advanced capabilities beyond a typical mobile phone. Smartphones run complete operating system (OS) software that provides a standardized interface and platform for application developers.” Mashable.com lists examples of operating systems such as Google’s Android, Apple’s iOS, Nokia’s Symbian, RIM’s BlackBerry OS, Samsung’s Bada, and Microsoft’s Windows Phone.
